Day 277 - Two front teeth

After months of false alarms, Millie finally has two front teeth.

The bottom pair arrived about a week ago but it has taken until now to get a photo.

The two top front teeth are near the surface so will be here soon.

So far, we've been lucky:

Teething hasn't given Millie too much trouble and she frequently sleeps through the night.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether this will last.

Everything goes straight into her mouth, whether edible or not.

And Millie has a mean bite as daddy found out to his cost when Millie bit his cheek.

It hurt, but Millie thought it funny.

Day 264 - In at the deep end

Millie received her first badge and swimming certificate today.

To get them, she had to sit on a lilypad and 'jump' into the water to the tune of Humpty Dumpty at the local swimming pool.

She also had to swim under water from the instructor to her mummy.

This Millie did successfully. She was immediately awarded a certificate and sew-on swan badge which she then proceeded to chew.

On the certificate, the instructor wrote: "Millie settled in brilliant to her lessons, progresses each week.

"Clearly very happy in water, lovely to see, very well done to you both."

Not bad for an eight-month-old baby, although daddy has a sneaking suspicion it was literally a case of sink or swim.

Diving to collect bricks from the bottom of the pool while wearing pyjamas may take a little longer.

Day 262 - Ruling the roost...

Millie rules the roost these days.

She gets us both up early each morning and in doing so makes sure we are relatively early to bed each night.

Sometimes she is grumpy and more than once in a while she seems subdued.

But this is often tiredness and most days when she wakes Millie greets us with a broad early morning smile.

She seems to be coming on in leaps and bounds - and enjoys playing, laughing and generally observing the world around her.

Last week, when she went to be weighed, Millie took delight in being the centre of attention.

We were pleased to learn that she now weighs One Whole Stone - a true milestone considering it is more than four times her birthweight.
