Day 17 - Time for bed
DADDY put Millie to bed for the first time this evening.
Under mummy's watchful eye and careful supervision, he changed her nappy and then changed her into a clean babygrow. It took him about 20 minutes, so he wouldn't have won any prizes for speed, but he felt a real sense of achievement.
Millie slept - like a baby - through the whole experience.
She looks so much like daddy that he thinks he can tell her feelings from the faces she pulls.
Her facial expressions are much more varied than they have been - she seems to smile or frown depending on her mood.
Crying is still unusual, although she did have a tantrum this afternoon.
Millie prefers to sleep on her front, but the nurses had put her on her back.
They vary her position regularly as her skull is still very soft and they don't want her to develop a 'square' head from lying too long on the same side.
She has gained another 16 grammes within the last 24 hours and now weighs 1.316kg.
The nurses have increased Millie's feeding to 19ml every two hours, which is supplemented with mummy's milk.
She is really learning to suckle properly now.
