Millie's Milestones

NANA and papa came to visit Millie for the first time this weekend.

They said she looked very sweet and looked like her daddy.

Millie now weighs 1.3kg (3lb exactly). This is 2 grammes more than her birthweight.

It took her a little while to get there.

Having almost reached the birthweight milestone, she actually lost 15 grammes in the 24 hours to Saturday (4 March).

The nurses then decided to give her a boost by fortifying her mummy's milk with vitamins before feeding her.

They also put a notice on her incubator to weigh Millie's nappies for the next 24 hours.

But the writing looked like it said she had to wear "Welsh napppies for 24 hours".

Anyway, Millie then started to put on weight and will remain on fortified milk until for the time being.

This is apparently a common practice with premature babies.

We think its a bit like having fortified cornflakes for breakfast.
